You will find the trail to be about 80% wooded terrain; with the rest meandering through gentle prairie or marsh areas. Part of the course will be a roller coaster of hills, with small rocks and roots scattered about. Other sections will be gently rolling with relatively smooth running surfaces. The pine sections give you that soft bed of pine needles that so many of us love to run on. Though our hills are not especially long or steep, they can take a tremendous toll on you if you attempt to run them. They are many and scattered throughout the course. "Silent Killers" is what one local runner calls them.

The Marji Gesick features 100-miles of rocks, roots, punchy climbs, jump lines, flow trails and soul crushing grinding that DNFs nearly 60% of the field each year. 100-Mile racers are pursuing the coveted hand-forged belt buckle created by local Blacksmith Gordon Gearheart. Mountain Bikers must finish under 12-hours to claim one while runners have 30-hours. While it may seem on the surface to be easily achievable… we caution you to not underestimate the brutality of the course. It will undoubtedly bludgeon even the best endurance athletes it submission.

The Community First Fox Cities Marathon features over 6.5 miles of paved trail running and miles of scenic park and waterfront views. The race begins in front of the Barlow Planetarium on the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley campus in Menasha and continues to make its way through six Fox Cities communities before finishing at scenic Riverside Park near downtown Neenah. The Community First Fox Cities Marathon is part of the Marathons of Wisconsin series. All Community First Fox Cities Marathon finishers receive a custom printed technical shirt with gender-specific sizing and a Finishers medal to commemorate their race participation and finish at the Community First Fox Cities Marathon! The weekend of events include the Community First Fox Cities Marathon, The Orthopedic & Sports Institute Marathon relay, and the ThedaCare Half Marathon with a competitive walk on Sunday September 23th. The Network Health - Health and Wellness Expo is held at the UW Fox Valley Campus field house on Friday Sept. 21nd from 4 to 8 pm and on Saturday Sept. 22rd from 9 to 6. On Friday from 4 to 8 the Guardian Kids Fun Run and the Huggies Diaper Dash & Toddler Trot will be held at the Timber Rattler Stadium. The Affinity 5k walk/run will be held on Sat. Sept. 22rd at Riverside Park in Neenah. This walk/run is stroller and pet friendly. The Fox Cities Marathon is part of the Marathons of Wisconsin series.

The Discover Whitewater Series (DWS) is an annual non-profit, Half Marathon, Half Marathon Relay, 5K, and Fit Kid Shuffle (Kids Run). The race promotes the City of Whitewater and highlights its greatest features, along with encouraging a healthy lifestyle for people of all ages. All race proceeds are then donated to five local charities in efforts to help build a stronger community.
